Britney Spears: Onyx Hotel Concert at the Allstate
Arena, March 17, 2004 by Brittany and Marie Jansen
After
a disappointing knee injury and postponed concert, Britney Spears blows away her audience with her sparkling extravaganza,
sexy outfits, and outrageous dancing, while performing her dazzling Onyx Hotel show.
Finally, after a long wait
for Britney Spears to enter the stage, a man enters the stage in a purple sequenced jacket, eye patch and a purple hat; slowly
guiding us through the tour. Then, Britney comes out with flashing lights around her together with her dancers, on a trailer
like car covered with graffiti. Dressed in a tight black jumpsuit, she starts with her opening songToxic. Other songs were
Oops I Did it Again and . Throughout the entire show, there were numerous exotic costume changes and a dazzling stage setup
and performance, not unlike a true Cirque du Soleil circus show. Britney transformed in various costumes, such as a robe and
light dressed in a tub, a pink ragged shirt with black flared pants, and the see through sparkled out fit that she wore in
her alltime music video, Toxic, to mention a few.
Concluding the show, she sang Outrageous. Unfortunately, she
did not sing it with Madonna, but at least she had a flaming red suit on, with fire flaming in the background.
I
would highly recommend this concert, because the audience gets totally absorbed into the show and adventure of the Onyx Hotel,
where each guest who enters shines their own light into the onyx (a precious black gemstone transforming into various colors),
to get their own fantasies come true in return. It not only realize wondrous dreams, but also reveals the darkest of all secrets.
The show was more like a stage show than a concert, and I overheard people say that, “Britney is a great
entertainer...” Britney’s moves and swings were definitely very creative and well rehearsed. She sang well, but
he sound could, unfortunately, have been better. The speakers were so loud that the audience could not really hear what she
was saying or the words to the songs.
Overall, however, the concert was a smashing hit and the audience
was completely mesmerized.
Skye Sweetnam,
Allstate Arena, March 17, 2004 by Brittany and Marie Jansen
Opening up the Britney Spears show at
the Allstate Arena, Skye Sweetnam, who’s music is about life in general and everyday things, made a grand entrance.
One of her songs was called,Why Boy’s Suck! Skye was amazing in my opinion. She has a fabulous energy and a great
voice. I like how her songs were about everyday life and teenager’s lives. She expresses things in a different way,
and makes an effort to introduce every song before she sings them.
